Davao & Panabo,  Philippines

About five years ago, we were introduced to a Filipino brother from a church in Davao City. This brother had served as chairman of the men's ministry in his Davao church.

 

He invited ICMS to prayerfully consider the possibility of conducting the Church Planting lnsitute  (CPI) programme in Davao. We did an exploratory trip and sensed God's leading to commence work in this city. We then started training the trainers and commenced the CPI work in Davao. Over the past 5 years the work continued and ICMS has trained over 150 potential church planters. A few churches were planted but the progress was slower compared to other countries.

So we began seeking the Lord for His leading concerning our further ministry in Davao City. 

It was during a trip in early 2014, following a chain of events, that the Lord gave us confirmation to engage Panabo, the second largest city in Mindanao and one hour's drive from Davao City. 

Some of these factors were:

• A "man of peace" had been appointed to a position of authority in Panabo city.

• 20 Panabo pastors had been praying 6 days a week over the past 2-3 years for revival.

• God's clear prompting to 'take the city' of Panabo.

We are conscious that this is a mission way beyond ICMS's abilities, capacities and resources but are stepping out in faith and seeking the Lord's leading and provision. We are continuously amazed at how the Lord has begun to open doors and grant us favour and connections with many of His people whom we can work with.

We remain excited and completely trusting the Lord for the next step and will, in the words of Ps Edmund Chan,  'think Big. start Small. build Deep.'
